Digital creatives from South America visit the Wilopark

The Goethe-Institut Chile coordinates a further training programme with the Academy for Theatre and Digitality.

The recently launched “ARTEscénicas + digitalidad” programme organised by the Goethe-Institut Chile is intended to provide a space for exploring new technologies, media and digital tools in the context of the performing arts.

As part of the programme, the Goethe-Institut Chile collaborates directly with the Academy for Theatre and Digitality, a young section of the Academy for Theatre and Digitality that has received support from the Wilo Foundation through fellowships since the Academy was founded in 2018.

The programme consists of three phases that are implemented in the period 2022 to 2024. During the first phase, participants are accompanied and receive professional advice as part of a mentoring approach. The second phase focuses on initiating processes in Germany and developing projects. In the third phase, the final productions are presented on international platforms (festivals, theatre stages, fairs etc.)

In this context, 18 participants from Chile, Bolivia, Uruguay, Brazil and Colombia were in Dortmund last week (project phase II) and made a professional excursion on the topics of digitality and new media to North Rhine-Westphalia. They also spent a few days in Dortmund to work with the Dortmund-based Academy for Theatre and Digitalty, present their projects and develop them further.

During their stay in Dortmund, the group, led by Verena Lehmkuhl (director of the Goethe Institute Chile), also visited the Wilopark and Konzerthaus Dortmund on Thursday, 23 May at the invitation of the Wilo-Foundation. In addition to presentations about the company, which were held by Gero Böhmer (Group Director, GPA) and Silas Schaefer (Manager Corporate Publishing, Group Marketing), and an overview of the global funding activities of the Wilo-Foundation by Evi Hoch and David Höltgen, the visit of the Wilopark also included a tour of the Smart Factory led by tour guide Janik Broszeit. The guests, who take a great interest in all things digital, were very impressed with what they saw. Afterwards, a visit to the Konzerthaus Dortmund was on the agenda: the group was first invited to a get-together in the Wilo-Foundation lounge and then watched a silent movie together.

The programme is organised by the Goethe-Institutes in Chile, Bolivia, Uruguay, Brazil and Colombia and implemented in close collaboration with their cultural partners Espacio Checoeslovaquia and NAVE in Chile, the Instituto Nacional de Artes Escénicas in Uruguay and the Academy for Theatre and Digitality in Dortmund, Germany.
