Habitat for Humanity's Covid 19 relief initiative #SavetheSaviors included short-term construction of an emergency center in Moinesti, northeast of Bucharest. The Wilo-Foundation supported the initiative as part of its global Corona emergency response, which provided and continues to offer emergency care to up to 65,000 people from 11 surrounding communities.

The pandemic also spread rapidly in Romania last year and continues to threaten the lives of elderly people in particular. The construction of this new emergency prevention center, where emergency services operate and people are prepared on how to respond or provide first aid in the event of a disaster, is of utmost importance in these times of coronavirus outbreak. Therefore, Habitat for Humanity Romania, in collaboration with the Moinesti Ambulance Center, built an Emergency Care Center that serves over 65,000 people from 11 municipalities in the northeastern part of Romania to date. Previously, the 33 Emergency Care Assistants were subjected to inadequate conditions. The center lacked basic supplies, such as clean water. The roof leaked and there was mold.

The local administration supported the project and, among other things, provided the land for the center. Habitat for Humanity Romania developed the project in collaboration with the municipality and local parties, which was a significant contribution to the realization of the project's mission. The Moinesti Emergency Service, the Moinesti City Hall, many volunteers and other partners have made every effort to develop the operational capacity of the Moinesti community for emergency situations that may threaten the health of citizens in the future.
