Promoting international young musicians

With our incentive awards, we want to support exceptionally gifted scholarship holders of the Mozart Gesellschaft Dortmund e.V. and help them develop their musical careers. Some of the scholarship holders perform on a regular basis at our Wilopark at one of the many chamber concerts.

The Mozart Gesellschaft Dortmund e.V. was founded in 1956. One of its key aims, besides cultivating Mozart’s music, is to promote young musicians between 17 and 27 years of age who show outstanding musical potential and are set to embark on an international career. A jury of experts selects potential scholarship holders and decides which musicians are to be given support.

By granting two financial incentive awards each year to young and talented scholarship holders of the Mozart Gesellschaft Dortmund e.V., the Wilo-Foundation helps to develop the next generation of musicians. The Mozart scholarship holders receive financial support to advance their development. The scholarship holders receive financial support, for example for video and CD productions, professional photo shoots, a website or master classes. The concert matinee with a renowned orchestra at the Konzerthaus Dortmund enabled by the programme is a particular highlight for the award winners.

In addition, some of the award winners are given the opportunity, as part of the chamber music series of the Mozart Gesellschaft e.V., to perform at an soirée concert in the Wilo Pioneer Cube building, which is being converted into a concert hall for the event.

Moreover, the Wilo-Foundation, together with the Kulturstiftung Dortmund (the Dortmund cultural foundation), has been sponsoring the matinee format “A reunion with...”. At this special concert, the Dortmund audience can once again meet former scholarship holders of the Mozart Gesellschaft e.V. who have been particularly successful and see them perform at the Konzerthaus Dortmund: 2021/22 Sebastian Manz (clarinet) and Nemorino Scheliga (clarinet), 2019/20 Joseph Moog (piano), 2022/23 Nadège Rochat (violoncello), 2023/24 Stephen Waarts (violin) and Emma Wernig (viola), 2024/25 Lise de la Salle (piano).

Up until today, the following scholarship holders have received an award from the Wilo-Foundation:

  • 2024/25: Fabian Egger (flute), Claire Wells (violin)
