The "climb learning holidays" are an education programme that is unique in Germany. The Wilo-Foundation (here: as a trustee of the WILO-Stiftung) supports the "climb learning holidays" for schoolchildren at primary schools in Dortmund by awarding so-called “strength sponsorships”.

The prevention-focused education programme is based on the motto “learn smart, stay motivated” and targets socially disadvantaged pupils from grades 1 to 6 at primary schools in Dortmund, which are selected every year.

The climb programme offers two-week courses during the school holidays (Easter, summer and autumn holidays). The aim of the courses is to improve participants’ skills in the core subjects of math and German and at the same time promote healthy eating, physical exercise and social interaction. The goal is for children to discover the joy of learning and prepare them for successfully managing their own education and career paths.

In 2022, the WILO-Stiftung sponsored ten “refugee sponsorships” for displaced children from Ukraine for the first time. Alongside the climb learning holidays, which have been organised at primary schools in Dortmund since 2015, a specially trained education worker was hired under the programme, who takes care of the displaced Ukrainian children by having conversations with them, helping them to improve their language skills and going on excursions with the children.
