Robotics project group promoting talents at a young age

Building something with Lego, acquiring media skills using an iPad, and gathering first experience as a coder? For students participating in the robotics group at Gilden-Europa-Grundschule, a primary school in Dortmund, all of this was possible.

Funding period: 2021

In the run-up to the "World Robot Olympiad (WRO)" Final held in Dortmund, 14 schools received robotics materials and training for teaching staff so they could prepare for the WRO and ideally take part in the World Final in Dortmund in November 2022.

The project in support of schools was coordinated by the association TECHNIK BEGEISTERT e.V., Menden, the organiser of the WRO in Germany and a partner of the association Talentstadt Dortmund e.V. In line with its motto "empowering young people" and as part of its regional STEM talent promotion in schools, the Wilo-Foundation (here: as a trustee of the WILO-Stiftung) supported the purchase of the Lego loan systems with a donation.
