RuhrTalente scholarship for pupils

To nurture the talents of young people, the Wilo-Foundation is supporting the RuhrTalente scholarship programme for pupils in the Ruhr area. Under the scholarship, up to 10 pupils from Dortmund are supported in their education path every year.

"RuhrTalente" is Germany’s largest regional scholarship programme for pupils. From grade 8 onwards, children and young people from all school types receive support under the programme: through practical assistance and events, regular personal counselling and support, and individual measures to develop their talent.

To nurture the talents of young people, the Wilo-Foundation (here: as a trustee of the WILO-Stiftung) provides funding for the scholarship programme that targets pupils in the Ruhr area, supporting up to 10 pupils from Dortmund in their education path every year. The scholarship holders are highly committed and successful students who demonstrate an exceptional willingness to learn. The scholarship is designed for pupils from grade 8 onwards and from all types of schools. In addition to receiving individual counselling on education and training matters and participating in an education programme that consists of numerous seminars, workshops, cultural events and field visits, scholarship holders also receive benefits in kind to facilitate their learning (e.g. a laptop). Scholarship holders may receive support up to the time when they start vocational training or university.

In the light of the positive development of the scholarship programme, the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia took over permanent sponsorship of the programme in late 2020 and extended it further: in 2022, regional talent centres were set up in the Aachen and Eastern Westphalia-Lippe regions to support and promote young people. The RAG-Stiftung is the anchor foundation of the programme.
