The digital skills of children and young people are increasingly influencing the degree of their social participation. Therefore, the integration of children and youth who are third-country nationals can be strengthened and accelerated through targeted digital skills development. As part of the project, ten interested schools in the city of Dortmund with many third-country nationals among their pupils received quality support over a two-year period in school and teaching development, especially in the field of language skills development via digital media. Two of these schools were supported by the Wilo-Foundation. The Dortmund education office and the school administration office were also closely involved in the project design to ensure a successful and sustainable implementation.

The cooperation project of the "Pacemaker Initiative", a joint initiative of the implementing agency EDUCATION Y e.V., Düsseldorf, Teach First Deutschland and IMAP GmbH, was realised in close collaboration with the city of Dortmund, with significant funding from the European Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and other sponsors.
